New feature: Chapter intro clip F.R.

Some of you might already know how much we love telling stories from the Warlords Battlecry universe. Well, this feature helps us just in that. Whenever you begin a new chapter, a short introduction video will pop up, showing the past of the hero who will be played with or some general information about what happened prior to the beggining of the chapter.

Converting and psychological radius F.R.

For those of you who have played the original game and sometimes pressed 'r' in hopes of seeing a unit's converting radius, only to be disappointed by a single circle around the hero, The Protectors Team has created just the thing you wanted, if not more.

Pressing 'r' in game now not only shows the command radius of the hero, but also the converting radius and/or the psychological radius of effect of your units, in different colors!

New feature: Hero leveling overhauled

There are a lot of fans out there who miss the wbc1 hero leveling up system. Well, the moments of nostalgia are over. The TPC team managed to create a new and somewhat similar leveling up system in The Protectors. Here're the details:

Firstly, you no longer receive stat points and skill points as in the original Warlords Battlecry 3, but instead receive ability points (APs) like in Warlords Battlecry 1, which can be invested in several/all of the heroes' ability trees.

You wanted bigger armies? We give you bigger armies!

For those of you who love grand battles with enormous amounts of units, this is now possible in TPC with the removal of the old "250 Army limit" and the implementation of the new Food system. Here's how it works:

Food is gained through buildings. A tower, for instance, produces two units of food per in-game-second. This food is stored in a food deposit (of 999 capacity for now) for future use.

Random name generator improved

The random name generator was originally used to give names for the AI controlled heroes, provided the names were not specifically set otherwise (campaign). With the implementation of the new create hero panel done by TPC team, where whenever you choose a race the random name generator kicks in and creates a suiting name for you, the naming files gained notoriety in the eyes of us modders.

New interface: hero creation help text

Because a lot of the testers sugested that there should be some info on what each skill and/or proficiency does before actually creating the hero, the team and I managed to implement an  updating help text on the right side of the create hero panel. Time was so insignificant in the original Warlords Battlecry 3 campaign that players actually forgot its existence. In The Protectors however, time is now of the essence! The action files of a campaign (battle, dialogue, training, etc.) can now be time conditioned. That might not sound much but it is. Another nice one for you RPG story lovers. Throughout the campaign you can now talk to people without loading a scenario. Just like any other act file, the nis campaign file can be conditioned (variables, companions, time, location, diplomacy) AND, just like any other nis file, can be triggered by choices, allignment, race. This new feature affects both global and local campaign variables, diplomacy and journal (including videos).
